Getting Started
The calculator is designed to be straightforward and easy to use. All of your data is stored securely in your browser and is not shared with anyone, so you can track your finances with confidence.
1. Add Your Daily Expenses
The main goal is to record your spending as it happens. In the "Quick Expense Entry" section, fill out the form with the following details:
- Date: This field automatically populates with today's date, but you can change it.
- Category: Select the category that best describes your expense.
- Item: Enter a brief description of what you bought (e.g., `Coffee`).
- Amount: Enter the exact cost of the item.
- Payment Method: Select how you paid for the item (`Card`, `Cash`, or `Online`).
- Notes: Add any extra details you want to remember.
Click the "Add Expense" button to save it.
2. Choose Your Currency
At the top right of the page, use the dropdown menu to select your desired currency (e.g., ₹, $, €, £). The symbol will instantly update across the entire application.
3. Set a Daily Budget
To keep your spending in check, you can set a daily budget:
- In the "Today's Summary" section, click the "Edit" button next to "Daily Budget."
- Enter your budget amount in the pop-up window and click "Save."
The progress bar will automatically show you how close you are to your daily limit.
4. Analyze Your Spending with Filters
You can view your expenses over different time periods:
- Use the "View" dropdown to switch between `Today`, `This Week`, `This Month`, or `All Time`.
- For a custom view, use the "From" and "To" date pickers.
Click the "Filter" button to apply your selections and update the summary and charts.
5. Manage Categories
To track a specific type of spending, you can create your own categories:
- In the "Manage Categories" section, click "Add Custom Category."
- Enter a name for your new category (e.g., `Hobby`) and click "Save."
Your new category will now be available when you add a new expense.
6. Export Your Data
You can easily get a copy of your expenses from the "Tools & Resources" section. Click "Export as PDF" or "Export to CSV" to download a report of your filtered expenses.
7. Reset Your Data
If you need to start over, you can clear all your saved information. At the bottom of the page, click the "Reset All Data" link. Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
